The National American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Convention will take place the end of August and the first week of September in Phoenix, AR. The Department of MD Delegates are all eagerly anticipating the trip to another very hot climate to meet and greet their fond friends from across the US. Do you remember a summer this hot in Maryland? So many days of 90 and above? I can’t recall one quite like this one.
We have held two very important meetings recently, the budget meeting for the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Maryland, held on July 31 at College Park Post #217 and the first D.E.C. (Department Executive Committee) meeting held on Aug. 14 at Post 7 in Annapolis, which was a hybrid (Zoom) meeting. It appears we must all be willing to change the way we conduct business as Zoom is the way of the future.
We are collecting school supplies at the post home, 9218 Baltimore Ave., in College Park for our two needy schools in the area, Hollywood and Paint Branch Elementary. If you can spare a few dollars to help this effort, we would be very grateful. You can drop them off any day after 12 noon.
Entertainers coming to the College Park American Legion on September 26 are Camron Robertson and Randoll Rivers. Tickets are $20 each and food will be available to purchase.
