Powder Mill Road (MD 212A) Project Update

Progress is underway for the Maryland State Highway Administration's (SHA) project to establishing a consistent roadway width for vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling along Powder Mill Road between Route 1 and Pine Street. The improved stretch of road will ensure two travel lanes (one in each direction), 4-foot wide shoulders, a curb, and 5-foot wide sidewalks. The upgrades will add bus shelters, enhance pedestrian safety, and improve traffic flow and safety. The project has reached 95 percent design completion, and right-of-way acquisitions are currently underway. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2019. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by fall 2021, weather permitting.

Status updates can be found online at: Click on Projects, click on MDOT SHA Projects Page, and type MD 212 into the search bar on the map. Select MD 212, Powder Mill Road TC - PINE STREET TO US 1 INTERSECTION, then click Additional Information.
