Obituary: James W. Moore


James (Jim) W. Moore, from Beltsville, Maryland transitioned from this life on Monday, January 21, 2019. Survived by his wife Shirley A. Moore; brother Earl Moore, sister-in-law Shirley L. Moore, daughters Jocelyn E. Phillips (Dennis), Janice L. M. Edwards, and Judith A. Moore, six grandchildren: Aaron E. Barton (Angela), Nicole E. Barton, Joseph D. Edwards, Terrance V. Edwards, Justin H.E. Barton, and Skye M. Edwards and two great-granddaughters: Abigail R. Barton and Amelia G. Barton, along with two step-daughters and a host of relatives and friends.

Jim graduated from Bucknell University (Phi Lambda Theta), served in the U. S. Army (Korean War), retired after 42 years of service at the National Archives (Assistant Archivist/Senior Policy Advisor for the Office of Records Services). During retirement, he traveled the world (i.e., Cuba, Dubai, South Africa, to name a few), served several leadership roles with the Dr. Betty Bouey – Yates Educational Foundation, a member of the board of directors for the College Park Aviation Museum, volunteered and promoted numerous Beltsville Day and Haunted Trail events at the Beltsville Community Center, and volunteered at the voting polls (MLK Middle School) on election days.
