Silver Spring, MD - At the Student Scholarship Celebration at Riderwood, an Erickson Senior Living community in Silver Spring, Md, 46 student workers, both high school seniors and adults furthering their education, were granted scholarships through the Riderwood Student Scholarship Fund. Each scholar receives at least $2,000 per semester. Riderwood raised over $250,000 to fund their scholarships.
Students become eligible for the Riderwood Scholarship by completing 700 hours of work. In addition to working at Riderwood, they also have to show academic achievement in their studies, receive recommendations from residents, and demonstrate excellent working habits.
“These residents make a big difference in the lives of student workers here at Riderwood,” says Philanthropy Manager Maria Aghguiguian. “They recognize the benefits of helping young people succeed, and they want to be a part of advancing their education and skill development. We are proud of these recipients for their commitment to excellence—here, at Riderwood, and in their studies. In turn, we appreciate our residents for contributing to the fund and sharing their life experiences with all of the students.”
