This month, Cub Pack 1031 had a busy schedule! On October 4, we cleaned up trash along Little Paint Branch Trail and at the Old Recreation Center as part of our adoption of the trail, while the Troop removed porcelain berry vines along the creek. On October 11, we hosted a table at the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department Open House with stomp rockets and spooky eye races. On October 18, we held an outdoor skills event at a leader’s house, where we learned knife safety, how to build a fire, and how to make a chicken foil dinner over the fire—and of course, S’mores!
We’ll stay busy in November! On November 1, the Cub and BSA Scouts will be distributing Scouting for Food stickers around Beltsville. On Saturday, November 8, we’ll pick up any donations and deliver them to the food pantries at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Emmanuel UMC. Look out for the stickers! Some of the items especially needed are canned meats, soup, dry beans, masa, rice (not instant), peanut butter, and cereal. Please place them in a labeled bag or box on your porch, visible from the street. If your donations are not picked up, please contact us at the email below.
Check out our new website at https://pack1031.org! There, you can find information on how to join our Pack.
If you’re interested in Cub Scouts, contact Regina Halper at Pack1031cubscouting@gmail.com for more information. We are a family scouting unit. During the school year, we meet at Beltsville Academy for our den meetings, and in the summer we meet at least twice a month—mostly in local parks.
