Plantify-ing The World
This month, Chair Dernoga and his Chief of Staff visited The Garden International to learn how urban farmers grow culinary mushrooms. Their mission is to 'plantify' the world. They strive to build restorative, sustainable systems that harmonize with nature. The Garden International believes it is time to cultivate ecosystems that feed the local community and the economy while using minimal natural resources and contributing to the health and well-being of the earth and all its inhabitants. They accomplish this by growing specialty gourmet mushrooms right here in Beltsville! You can stop in and check them out or pick up a mushroom kit for your family to start growing food at home with minimal effort. Visit www.thegarden.farm to learn more about how you too can visit and how else they are ‘plantify-ing’ the world! Specialty mushrooms, such as Fresh Lion's Mane, Fresh Blue, Pink, or Golden Oysters, and Fresh Pioppino, to name a few, would be an excellent addition to any holiday meal.
Department of the Environment PGCLitterTRAK Program
PGCLitterTRAK is a smartphone application developed by the Prince George's County Department of the Environment (DoE), designed to assist County residents, community organizations, and businesses in reporting trash and debris collected during individual and group clean-up events.
Information submitted through PGCLitterTRAK, including bags of litter removed, items collected, and litter pick-up locations, will assist DoE in meeting its trash reduction rate of 170,628 pounds per year within the Anacostia River Watershed. Data provided will also help DoE develop real-time maps cataloging litter collected throughout the County. This easy smartphone app will take you through a series of questions that will allow us to collect data on your contribution towards a cleaner, greener Prince George's County.
The PGCLitterTRAK map provides information on litter collection sites in Prince George's County, which can be found here: https://bit.ly/496nMCq. To access the PGCLitterTRAK app, register through the PGCLitterTRAK User Sign-Up Form here https://bit.ly/405G1n8.
