Obituary: Holliday, William Stephen

William Stephen Holliday was born on January 27, 1934 to the late Edna C. and Paul Holliday. He departed life peacefully in his sleep at Brooke Grove on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at age 88. He lived most of his life in Beltsville, surrounded by a big and loving family.

Even though Steve was mentally challenged at 6 months from Reyes Syndrome he had many special talents. His older brother, Stanley took him on his paper route. Steve could still say the names of all the people they delivered papers to.

Steve could his alphabet forward and backwards. He used a knitting knob and yarn to make rounded cord that his made into rugs.

The family was very musically gifted. Steve loved music. He especially loved Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw and Jimmy Dean. There was always music being played by Mom, Dad or brothers and sisters. At Brooke Grove, he loved going to musical performances and he always kept the beat. His nephew Kenny played there several times.

Steve loved the beach. In the summer he would go to Nags Head with his family. He loved going to the fishing pier to watch Butch fish and enjoyed riding the Ferris Wheel.

He had a great love of God and Jesus. He wore a cross as a symbol of his love for them. He prayed for many of us and had several prayers that he knew from memory.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Paul, his sister, Joan, and his brothers, Stanley and Kenneth "Butch/Doc". He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Kathy Pinto, his brother, Donnie and wife, Becky, as well as his nieces, nephews and longtime friends and neighbors.

Funeral service was held at Borgwardt Funeral Home, Beltsville, MD on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
