Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union Launches Special Support Programs for Members Impacted by Federal Government Shutdown

Prince George’s County, MD – October 14, 2025 – Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union (PGCFCU) has announced a series of financial relief programs to support members directly impacted by the federal government shutdown. These initiatives are designed to provide short-term stability and peace of mind, allowing members to focus on what matters most during this uncertain time. Programs will remain available until the federal government shutdown officially ends.

 

The Following Programs Are Available to Support Members During the Government Shutdown:

Government Shutdown Loan 

• Loan amounts up to $5,000 (maximum of 2× member’s monthly income)

• Terms up to 24 months

• Flat rate of 7.49% APR

• No payments for up to 60 days

• Members must qualify under normal lending guidelines

 

Payment Deferrals on Existing Loans

• Eligible members may skip up to 2 months of payments

• Excludes real estate loans, mobile homes, and revolving loans (including credit cards)

 

Waived Early-Withdrawal Penalty on Certificates of Deposit

• No penalty on withdrawals up to $10,000
