Hello Calverton! Hello everyone!
On behalf of the Calverton community, I sincerely thank each and every one of you for joining us for our Neighborhood Walk. This event was a true success because of teamwork, support, and participation from all sides. Calverton residents call home to both Prince Gorge’s and Montgomery counties.
A special thank you to our local agencies, including law enforcement, fire, and emergency services—for being here with us. Your presence is not only about safety, but also about building trust and partnership with our residents. We are grateful to Montgomery County Sheriff Maxwell C. Uy, MCPD 3D Commander J. Cokinos, Burtonsville VFD, and Prince George’s County District 6 Major S. Batth and your teams. Sheriff Maxwell, thank you for presenting me with your Leadership Coin and for walking alongside our community. Your encouragement inspires me to take the next step and work even harder for our world.
To our elected officials and community leaders, thank you for showing your commitment to unity and neighborhood well-being. PG District 1 Councilmember Thomas Dernoga’s team continues to stand with us, and we deeply appreciate it.
To all the organizations, businesses, and volunteers, especially our students who earned service hours, you played a huge role in making this event possible. Your energy and dedication keep our community strong. I remain committed to working with county leaders and officers to create more opportunities for our youth, to train them in leadership, and to connect community and make them ready to serve community and country.
Thank you to Merritt Properties for generously providing the parking lot for the Calverton Neighborhood Walk event.
And most importantly, thank you to our residents. You are the heart of Calverton. By coming together for our walk, you showed the true spirit of what it means to be a community: neighbors standing side by side, across generations, and across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, united in friendship and care for one another.
My goal is to keep improving the lives of our young people, because our youth are our economy, our security, and our future. The future of middle-class families depends on their children’s education, and together we can help them thrive.
Let us carry forward this same spirit of unity, safety, and connection every day, not just when there is an event. Together, we can continue making Calverton a safe, welcoming, and thriving place to live.
Thank you once again. I am proud of each of you for making this event so memorable. Let’s keep walking forward together!
Respectfully,
Joseph Gomes
President
