We’re here for DOGED Federal employees and contractors

Recent federal layoffs have deeply affected many Marylanders, including right here in Beltsville. If you or someone you know has been impacted, there are several state programs and local services available to help you navigate this difficult time. Please reach out to our office if you need assistance accessing any of these resources.

Federal Worker Emergency Loan Program

The Maryland Department of Labor is accepting applications for the Federal Worker Emergency Loan Program, which offers a $700 no-interest loan to Maryland residents who were recently laid off from federal employment due to mass layoffs, agency closures, or relocations and are experiencing financial hardship. Loans must be repaid within 180 days, with a one-time 90-day extension available upon request.

To apply, create an account and submit your application through the online portal: Apply at https://labor.maryland.gov/federalworkers/FWEloan

Career Transition Support

The State is providing free State-Federal Transition Workshops every Wednesday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. These virtual and in-person sessions include resume writing, mock interviews, and more. Email FedWorker.Transition@maryland.gov to enroll

Thank You to Our Beltsville Student Applicants

Each summer, the District 21 team is proud to award Senatorial Scholarships to outstanding students from our community. The application period for the 2025-2026 academic year is now closed, and we want to extend our sincere thanks to all the Beltsville students who applied.

We’ll be notifying scholarship recipients soon, and we look forward to supporting your continued success in the year ahead.
