UpStage Artists Announces Auditions For The Maltese Falcon

UpStage Artists will hold auditions this June for its upcoming production of The Maltese Falcon, adapted for the stage by John Cusumano and based on the classic novel by Dashiell Hammett.

Auditions will take place Monday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane Beltsville, MD 20705. Performances are scheduled for September 18 through September 27, including two performances on Saturday, September 19, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Maltese Falcon is a classic mystery filled with timeless intrigue; the production brings the legendary noir detective story to life on stage. The play follows private investigator Sam Spade as he becomes entangled in a dangerous search for a priceless black statuette, encountering a cast of mysterious and morally complex characters along the way.

The production is seeking six male actors and three female actors for a variety of roles, including Sam Spade, Miss Wonderly, The Fatman, Detective Polhaus, Effie, and others. Some roles include expanded material written specifically for this adaptation.
