Obituary: Amelia Risdon

Amelia Risdon passed away on Friday, June 2. She was born in Delia Plain, VA, on February 11, 1922, to the late Charles and Alice Hynson. Amy Hynson grew up in Upperville, VA, and went to Upperville School. She later worked at the Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, MD, from 1963 to 1989.

Wife of the late William "Bill" K. Risdon who died in 1999. Mother of two children, Beverly J. Risdon of Woodbine, MD, and William "Butch" Risdon of Blue Rapids, KS. Grandmother of 4 and great-grandmother of 11.

Amy and Bill lived in Beltsville, MD, and together they owned and operated the Hyattsville Hardware Store, which is now a popular restaurant named Franklin's. Amy enjoyed playing cards and bingo and visiting family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, MD, on Wednesday, July 26, at 11 am. Interment private.
