The painting of Samuel Dixon “Something Floral,” will be on display at the Laurel - Beltsville Senior Activity
Center in Laurel, Maryland from October 2 ~ November 2, 2017, a reception to meet the artist will be held onMonday, October 2nd from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., light refreshment will be served and the event is free.
Primarily a watercolorist, Dixon also works in oil and acrylics. Dixon never made a conscious decision to be
an artist; art seemed natural to him. Influenced by the paintings of French and American impressionist,
Samuel Dixon's work captures the essence of inspiration and temperament. His art often focuses on shapes
and abstraction through a gestural approach, creating paintings with an energetic motion, achieving a careful
balance between controlled structure, spontaneity and the use of color compositions.
As a fine art and graphic designer he has won countless awards. Awards include: Honorable Mention award
2006, Art Reston 13th Annual Juried Exhibition, the 2009 Louis Award Winner for Excellence in greeting
card design from the Pictura, Inc., Merit Awards 2013 Laurel Art Guild and the Gold Ink Award in poster and
book cover design from the Publishing and Production Executive.
