Please join us Wednesday, October 18, at 7 pm for our meeting at Beltsville Academy. We will have two guest speakers this month, Officer Castro, the COPS officer from Beltsville, and Laurel Mayor Mr. Craig Moe. Officer Castro will be our first speaker. If you have a specific crime or safety issue that you would like him to discuss, please contact me by October 12. Our second speaker will be Craig Moe, mayor of Laurel. Come and learn the latest updates on the future of Laurel Regional Hospital and discuss local topics and concerns. Now that the University of Maryland Medical System has taken ownership of Dimensions Healthcare System, big changes are coming to Laurel Regional Hospital. The new name is University of Maryland Laurel Regional Hospital. So what does this new affiliation mean if you and your family need medical care? Laurel Mayor Craig Moe will explain the entire process and the transformation coming to your neighborhood hospital! Mayor Moe, Councilwoman Lehman, Senator Rosapepe, and Delegates Pena-Melnyk and Barnes have led the charge to save Laurel Regional Hospital. There will be a domestic violence safety workshop on Thursday, October 28, from 7–9 pm at Martin Luther King, Jr., Middle School. State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks, Lt. Matt Barba from the police department, and representatives from the county Family Justice Center will be our featured speakers at the workshop. The sponsors of the workshop are Councilwoman Mary Lehman, Police District 6, and the CAC for District 6. Let’s stop the cycle of violence and spread the word that services and help are just a phone call away. Bring a friend or bring a neighbor and join us for these two important community meetings.
