Harris H. Sachs, 98, was born on April 28, 1920, in Washington, DC, and died on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was the beloved father of Carol (Marty) Silver, Deborah (Joe) Kumper, Barbara (Glenn) Alexander, Kimberlee Rice, Arlene Britt, and Kelly (Kevin) Wood; cherished grandfather of Laura, Amy, Cameron, Sierra, Ashleigh, Kelly, Devin, Ryan, Kristen, and Kyle; devoted great-grandfather of nine; also survived by many loving family and friends.
Harris served as a pilot in the Naval Air Corps during WWII and ranked as the youngest lieutenant commander during that time. He founded General Glass Corporation in 1952 and remained involved in the business, which still thrives today. At his request, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, or donations to a veteran charity of your choice would be appreciated. Memorial service was held at Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Rd., Beltsville, MD, on Thursday, February 15, at 7 pm. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
