Imagine my surprise when I opened up Facebook in March to see a notice from TJ’s of Calverton stating that because of the Covid-19 situation it had decided not to renew its lease. It was closing. TJ’s has been a staple in the area for as long as I can remember. I no longer live in Beltsville, but I would try to go over there once every month or so. Its closing should be a wakeup call for all of us. If we don’t support our small businesses here in Beltsville, they will not survive. The Beltsville News has tried to compile a list of those small businesses (and businesses in general) that are still open. Below is a list of as many as we could compile.
