Plants from The Duckworth School greenhouse will be on sale at the Beltsville Garden Club Plant Sale!

The Beltsville Young at Heart Club

By Lois Hamilton

Our May meeting will be entertained by “Good Company” with Jim and John. I had heard them at the last Beltsville Day before the pandemic started (if you can remember that far back).

Beltsville Young at Heart was organized in 1966, so we are excitedly planning our Anniversary Party on July 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Laurel. We’ll have food, entertainment and a silent auction. I hope some past members can join us. More information later. I have found that if you love life, life will love you back. (A. Ruberstein, musician)

Beltsville Garden Club May Plant Sale

By Melissa Mackey

The Beltsville Garden Club will return this year to Centerway in Greenbelt (City of Greenbelt Municipal Parking Lot, Centerway, Greenbelt, MD) on Saturday, May 7 from 9 am-1 pm for a sale of reasonably priced and healthy trees, shrubs, vegetables, herbs, annuals, perennials, native plants, and house plants from our wonderful member vendors and the Duckworth School Greenhouse.

All plants are grown by BGC member vendors. BGC volunteers also grow plants in the Duckworth School Greenhouse; all profits from greenhouse plant sales will benefit the school.

There will also be a club sale table to benefit our University of MD School of Agriculture and Natural Resources Scholarship fund. We give a $1,000. scholarship to a student each year. Help invest in the future! Support local education at this sale of quality plants, and just in time to find Mother’s Day plant gifts. Come early for the best selection.
