High Point SAT Scores Show Highest Gain in County

   Great news arrived at High Point for the beginning of the 1999-2000 school year. High Point had the highest gain in SAT scores for the twenty high schools in Prince George’s County. SAT scores rose 38 points over 1998 scores.

 

ATF Plans to Construct a Fire Research Laboratory in Beltsville

   A 35.1-acre site south of the intersection of Ammendale and Virginia Manor Roads is the likely site for a fire research laboratory. According to William Straton, the Project Director for the Alcohol, Tobacco and Forearms Agency, construction is likely to begin in January or February 2000, with anticipated completion in late summer 2001.

 

Abiding Presence Lutheran Church - 40 Years in Beltsville

   Abiding Presence Lutheran Church will celebrate its 40th year serving the people of the greater Beltsville area on Oct. 31.

 

Women’s Community Club Celebrates 77th Birthday

   The Women’s Community Club of Beltsville will celebrate its 77th birthday at its next meeting, Monday, October 11 at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be George Sumi, service manager at Behnke Nurseries. He will discuss the effects of the summer’s drought.
