Troop 1033 “On the Go”

By Evan Flores

On Memorial Day weekend the Boy Scouts and parents of Troop 1033

went on an adventurous trip to Paw Paw, West Virginia. The Troop planned to canoe down the Potomac River, but the intensive rain that week made the water level too high. Instead, the Scouts hiked up a mountain and through the Paw Paw tunnel. The Troop was lucky that no big rain swept through the area.

Mrs. Nora Painter kindly taught a portion of the physical fitness merit badge, which is needed for Eagle Scout. In June, it was off to a fun but wet trip to Cape Henlopen on the Delaware shore next to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. The Scouts enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach with some minor showers. However, on the morning of the 17th, tropical storm Allison graced them with her presence as she pounded the area with heavy winds and rain, leaving some parts flooded. Even with the rain, a good time was had by all.

At the time of this publication, the Scouts will be returning from a week at Camp Goshen, where they worked hard (and played hard) toward completing requirements for merit badges.
