Beltsville—beware the sidewalks! On September 15, our very own King Kong—star of the upcoming UpStage Artists comedy Kong’s Night Out—broke free from rehearsal and embarked on an unsanctioned sightseeing tour of town. Citizens reported a “giant, furry menace” casually strolling past coffee shops, startling mail carriers, and apparently checking out the local park benches.

Fortunately, Kong was more curious than catastrophic. No one was hurt, no buildings toppled, and no cars were tossed (though a few squirrels may have reconsidered their life choices). After a few tense hours, our heroic stage crew successfully corralled the oversized star, who has now promised to remain behind bars…er, backstage…until showtime.

Curious to see what all the fuss is about? Don’t miss Kong’s Night Out, a laugh-out-loud comedy imagining what was happening just a few doors down while Kong swept Ann off her feet—literally.

Showtimes: October 10, 11, 17, 18 at 7:30 p.m., and matinees October 12 and 19 at 2 p.m., at Emmanuel United Methodist Church (11416 Cedar Lane). Tickets: $10 online at www.upstageartists.com

or at the door.

Beltsville, consider yourself warned…er, invited. Kong is ready to meet his fans—this time from the safety of the stage!
