Challenge Day at James E. Duckworth Regional

Updated: May 23, 2023

We are excited to host our yearly “Challenge Day” event again this year. Due to the pandemic, this event has not been hosted since 2019. Challenge Day is a Special Olympics sponsored event that includes training in motor activity and recreation for all students. Our students have been practicing different sports year-round to prepare for this spectacular day. They demonstrate their skills in basketball, adaptive bowling, Rock and Roll Boulder, Heavy Stone Walk, Yarn Ball Toss, Stocking Cups Games and many others with adult assistance and support from their SSA student mentor. This event will occur at James E. Duckworth Regional School on May 19, 2023, from 9 AM to 12 PM. All staff will participate in training and the culminating activities with students and families to add to the high energy and enthusiasm of the day.

James E. Duckworth Regional School is a separate public day school for students with severe cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities between the ages of 5 - 21. The school specializes in serving students with autism, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, and intellectual disabilities who use assistive technology and other adaptive equipment and materials to access, learn, and display their knowledge and skills.

Remember the date: The James E. Duckworth Regional Dragons will be ready to display their unique talents on May 19, 2023. Wish them luck.
