Emmanuel UMC to Hold Blessing of the Animals

Bring your pet to Emmanuel UMC on October 4 at 10 am to have them blessed by the Pastor!

Emmanuel United Methodist Church will welcome some four-legged—and perhaps feathered and scaly—visitors to worship this fall during its annual Blessing of the Animals.

The special service will take place on Sunday, October 4, at 10 a.m. on the front lawn. Members of the congregation and the surrounding community are invited to bring their pets to receive a special blessing.

Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other beloved animal companions are welcome to attend with their families. The outdoor service celebrates the important place animals hold in people’s lives and recognizes them as part of God’s creation.

The Blessing of the Animals is open to the entire community, and participants do not need to be members of Emmanuel to attend.

Emmanuel United Methodist Church is located at 11416 Cedar Lane in Beltsville.

For those whose pets are part of the family, Emmanuel offers a simple invitation: bring them to church!
