Halloween Fun in College Park At Post # 217 By Ivy Christoffers

Updated: Nov 2, 2021

Johnny Seaton performs at the College Park American Legion on Oct. 30.

It is that time of year when we can dress up as whatever and whomever we want and join our friends in celebrating All Hallows Eve. This year you can do this at the Halloween Masquerade Dance being held at the American Legion Post # 217at 9218 Baltimore Ave. on October 30. If you don’t feel like dressing up, come as you are. Our own Johnny Seaton and his Bad Behavior Band will be entertaining. There will be prizes for the best costume and a healthy 50/50 drawing taking place, the doors open at 5:30 PM and the show starts at 7:00 PM. An Italian dinner will be available for purchase at $10. Tickets are available for only $22 each. Call Tina Zook for tickets at 301-935-5308. What a fun way to end our summer programs and transition into fall.

Speaking of transitioning into fall, Unit # 217 is holding a school supplies drive until the end of October to help out Hollywood, our elementary school that is very appreciative of our assistance each year. If you can provide “10 for education” we would be very grateful. By 10 for education, we mean any item that the children can use such as pencils, crayons, rulers, composition books, backpacks, let your imagination be your guide. We have collection boxes inside the front door. If you don’t wish to shop, a donation will be helpful. We have ladies who love to shop. Thank you in advance for your concern for our children.

The Post is once again open for business. Call Gary Kingery at 301-441-2783 to discuss your plans. We serve lunch every day except Sunday and Monday and hold dinner dances twice a month. There is something here for everyone.

Until next month, stay safe and seek Gods’ blessings on our troops serving in the quest for peace around the world.
