HAPPY HOLIDAYS! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
The holidays are here! The Beltsville community is blessed with wonderful nonprofits that help those in need all year long—and every one of them can use support. The most obvious way to help is through financial donations, but giving your time is just as valuable. Youth groups such as the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Boys & Girls Club, our community churches, the Lions Club, and the Women’s Club all provide a variety of services that make Beltsville a better place. Contact information for each group can be found in Our Beltsville News. And yes—even the Beltsville News can use your time and support! Giving the gift of your time to any of these organizations is truly a gift to our entire community.
While many of us are preparing for the holidays or celebrating with friends and family, remember that bandits and crooks are also out there. Please try not to become a victim. Have packages delivered to your office, a FedEx or UPS location, an Amazon Office, or an Amazon Locker. Do not leave anything of value in your car—and lock your car! Turn on your outside lights at night and park in well-lit areas. Consider using a steering-wheel lock. When you are out shopping—especially during the holiday season—if you return to your car to drop off packages and are not leaving the shopping center, move your car to another parking spot before going back inside.
