Updated: Mar 11, 2023

Gorham, Ray

Ray Gorham, beloved husband of Carol Gorham, and beloved father of R.J. and Maddy Gorham, left this earth after a long struggle with illness on March 4, 2023. He also leaves behind several siblings as well as nephews, nieces, and many friends.

Ray was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1947 and spent the last 34 years in Beltsville, MD. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Ray was a loyal member of the American Legion and a supporter of many Veteran organizations. He retired from AT&T/Lucent after 45 years. While he was there he provided communications support to the House of Representatives, Library of Congress, White House, the Capitol and the Pentagon as well as other government agencies.

Known to many who knew him as a warm, friendly guy, he will be remembered for his friendship and humor. He shared his avid love of watching sports with his family, especially the UMD women’s basketball team, football, and wrestling. He was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 11, at 5:00 pm at the American Legion in Greenbelt, MD. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wounded Warriors, or to plant a tree to revive the earth.
