Troester, Carl Augustus “Tac”
Carl Augustus Troester III "Tac," 78 Years, of Lynchburg, VA, formerly of Beltsville, MD, passed away, Monday, July 28, at Commonwealth Senior Living Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Tac was born on September 19, 1941 in Hartford, CT. He was the son of the late Carl Augustus Troester Jr. and the late Thelma Frances Schwab Troester.
Tac worked his entire career in the hardware business. He loved being able to help people with their household needs and enjoyed working in the garden department the most. He worked for Goodall’s Hardware in Beltsville for close to 26 years and later with Home Depot where he retired in 2006.
Tac had many hobbies and interests throughout his life. He collected postcards, stamps, coins, miniature toy planes, and numerous miniature John Deere tractors. He was also an avid reader and had thousands of books in his collection. He enjoyed reading anything involving fire departments and apparatus, planes, trains, and automobiles. He was a giant history buff, especially when it involved the Civil War, and loved to travel to any place that had some historical significance. He was an avid bird watcher and a skilled fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed sharing these activities with his family as well as many trips and vacations seeing new places and museums. He was, in many people's opinions, one of the best tour guides in Washington, DC. He knew every building, museum, monument, and statue like the back of his hand and loved sharing his knowledge with family and friends. He will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Troester; daughter, Terri Facemire; grandson, Dimitry Facemire; sister, Thelma "Tantsie" Worley (Richard); brother, Jeffrey Troester (Diane); and numerous nieces and nephews.
