Thank You, American Legion Family By Ivy Christoffers

Updated: Aug 1, 2020

American Legion Auxiliary National President Nicole Clapp and American Legion National Commander James W. “Bill” Oxford express their gratitude to American Legion family members who have stepped up to help communities during the coronavirus pandemic and encourage them to be a beacon of hope as they continue to serve.

Our Mission Statement: In the interest of service not self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor our youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security.

Our Vision Statement: The vision of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion while becoming the premier service organization and foundation of every community providing support for our veterans, our military, and their families by shaping a positive future in an atmosphere of fellowship, patriotism, peace, and security.

What a great organization! Who would not aspire to belong to such an awesome group of citizens? If you are qualified for membership, why not seek out your nearest American Legion post home and let them know you would be honored to help them serve those who have stepped up and served this great country? An honorable discharge from the Armed Forces for you or your immediate family member or a DD214 or death certificate for an immediate family member who served is all that is required.

College Park Post # 217 has been closed for three months complying with the governor’s orders; however, we hope to open our doors just as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, pray for our troops, keep safe, and remember to check up on your elderly neighbors and the lonely. A human voice is sometimes welcome and necessary for good health. May God continue to bless you and yours.
