As the director of UpStage Artists' recent production of American Son, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended one of our performances over the past two weekends.

Community theater thrives because of the support of its audiences, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who chose to spend an evening with us. What makes your support especially meaningful is that American Son is not an easy play. It asks difficult questions, explores challenging realities, and encourages conversations that can sometimes be uncomfortable. Yet time and again, audiences in our community demonstrated a willingness to engage with those topics thoughtfully and respectfully.

Theater has long been a place where people can come together to experience stories that entertain, inspire, challenge, and sometimes even unsettle us. American Son was a production designed not only to tell a compelling story but also to encourage reflection and dialogue. Your willingness to join us on that journey made every performance worthwhile.

I am incredibly proud of our cast and crew, who dedicated themselves to presenting this powerful work with honesty, compassion, and professionalism. Their efforts were rewarded by audiences who listened, reacted, reflected, and often stayed afterward to share their thoughts and experiences.

One of the greatest strengths of community theater is its ability to bring people together from different backgrounds and perspectives. Throughout the run of American Son, we witnessed that firsthand. Whether audience members agreed with one another or saw the story through different lenses, they shared the experience together—a reminder of the important role the arts can play in fostering understanding and conversation.

On behalf of everyone at UpStage Artists, thank you for supporting local theater and for embracing a production that invited us all to think a little deeper. We are honored to be part of such a thoughtful and engaged community, and we look forward to welcoming you back for future productions.
