Senate Scholarship Application Deadline -- Friday, July 9

Each Senator and Delegate is allocated funds for scholarships to students in our district who attend Maryland colleges. There are so many deserving students in Beltsville. With college tuition a struggle for many families, we need to do everything we can to help hardworking students get a good education. We can't help everyone with Senatorial Scholarships, but we can certainly help some.

To apply online for a 2021 - 2022 Senate scholarship, students should visit www.21stdistrictdelegation.com/college-scholarships, and the deadline to apply is Friday, July 9. The application period has ended for a separate Delegate scholarship from Delegates Joseline Peña-Melnyk, Ben Barnes, and Mary Lehman, but look to apply early next year.

Do you or friends need help getting unemployment benefits?

As we all know, the Maryland Department of Labor was not prepared for the current economic crisis. As a result, hundreds of thousands of working people have lost their jobs but not received the benefits they’ve earned. Many have not even had their applications approved yet.

The Department is now solving more and more cases, so if you have still not gotten your unemployment insurance, please let us know. Email us at 21stdistrictdelegation@gmail.com. Or call 301-858-3141. We will contact the right people in the Department of Labor and do everything we can to get your money ASAP.
