County Executive Braveboy visits High Point High School in Beltsville
At our request, Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy chose High Point High School as one of her first stops of the new school year, visiting the Beltsville campus on September 3, 2025.
Braveboy met with students and staff as part of her back-to-school listening tour, which highlights student services, classroom needs, and the importance of strong community partnerships. She praised High Point’s history and energy, calling the Eagles “a proud example of resilience and achievement in Prince George’s County.”
She also endorsed the plan Delegates Joseline Pena-Melnick, Ben Barnes, Mary Lehman and I have fought for to rebuild High Point.

Maryland Health Connection Open Enrollment Starts November 1
Beltsville residents should mark their calendars: the open enrollment period for 2026 individual and family health insurance runs from November 1, 2025, through January 15, 2026.
This is the annual opportunity to sign up for a plan through Maryland Health Connection or HealthCare.gov, or to make changes to your existing coverage.
This enrollment window applies to those purchasing insurance on the individual market, not to employer-sponsored benefits. If you receive health insurance through your job, your employer will set its own enrollment dates, which may differ from the state’s schedule.
If you miss the January 15 deadline, you may still qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you experience a life event such as marriage, the birth of a child, or losing other coverage.
For help choosing a plan, Maryland Health Connection offers online resources, a free mobile app, and assistance by phone or through trained navigators across the state.
For more information or personalized support, visit MarylandHealthConnection.gov or call the Maryland Health Connection call center.
Keeping Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department open to protect our community.
For more than a year, the Delegates and I, along with Councilman Tom Dernoga and his chief of staff Michelle Garcia, have been working to keep the fire station open to protect Beltsville residents. Since County Executive Braveboy took office, the County Fire Department has been much more cooperative. But the problem is not solved. We’ve gotten state funds to improve the BVFD, but we need the County’s investment too. We’ll keep working on it and keep you informed.
