Tax Relief for Homeowners – October 1st Deadline

State law established the Homestead Tax Credit to help homeowners deal with large assessment increases on their principal residence. You only need to apply for the Homestead Tax Credit one time. To learn more and see if you qualify, visit the Maryland Department of Assessment and Taxation website. This year, the Maryland General Assembly approved legislation to extend the submission deadline for the Homeowners Property Tax Credit and Renter's Tax Credit to October 1, 2020.

State Aid for Eviction Prevention Assistance

Since the beginning of the pandemic, as many as 20% of households are behind on rental or utility payments. So, the state announced $30 million in funding for eviction prevention assistance. If you or someone you know is facing eviction because of the pandemic, we can help connect you with the right program.

Despite Crisis, Maryland Retains Triple AAA Bond Rating

Last month, all three credit-rating agencies reaffirmed Maryland's AAA bond rating. "Despite the economic and fiscal challenges presented by the novel coronavirus, Maryland’s Triple-A bond rating has been re-affirmed," said State Treasurer Nancy Kopp. "As they have always been, these ratings are an acknowledgment of Maryland’s balanced approach to fiscal matters. Now more than ever, it is an approach we must maintain, while investing in our State and our citizens when it is most needed."
