UpStage Artists, Beltsville’s premiere community theater, is gearing up for its final show for the 2023 season, Barbara Robinson’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!” The play is based on her novel of the same name. In this hilarious Christmas classic, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids – probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem – and the fun – when the Herdmans collide head-on with the story of Christmas! This delightful show is adapted from the bestselling Young Adult book and has become a holiday staple for groups across the United States.
UpStage Artists’ production features 17 children and 7 adults from Beltsville and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic production for you and your family. The running time is just a little over an hour, so it isn’t too long for the little ones, it’s funny and silly and will keep everyone entertained, there is Christmas music, and of course a feel-good message at the end. “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is a show that is perfect to introduce younger children to the joys of live theater.
Show dates for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” are December 1, 2, 8, 9 at 7:30 pm and December 3 and 10 at 2 pm at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, MD 20705. Tickets are on sale at www.upstageartists.com/tickets for just $10. We will also be collecting monetary donations for Beltsville Community Cats at each show. If you have a local business and would like to advertise in our program, you can go to www.upstageartists.com/ads for more information. Remember, UpStage Artists is community theater for everyone!
