Join us once again at the Beltsville Community Festival
I hope you will join Delegates Joseline Peña-Melnyk, Ben Barnes, Mary Lehman, and me at the family-friendly Beltsville Day Community Festival on Saturday, May 9, from noon until 4 p.m. at the Beltsville Community Center, 3900 Sellman Road.
There will be a variety of free games, numerous food options, activities, and entertainment for children and adults of all ages.
And join the Delegates and our staff at our annual post-session Beltsville community meeting.
It’s your opportunity to hear directly from our team, including our new Maryland House Speaker, Joseline Peña-Melnyk, about what we’ve been able to do for Beltsville—and, for us, to hear your concerns. Almost every year I’ve represented Beltsville, I’ve been able to attend this annual meeting, and I always look forward to it. Beltsville residents are among our most knowledgeable and engaged constituents. Unfortunately, this year, because of an important family event, I won’t be able to attend. But my colleagues will fill me in on all your perspectives. I look forward to being back next year! And, of course, feel free to contact me directly.
Update from the 2026 legislative session
The 2026 Maryland General Assembly legislative session ended in early April. The Delegates and I worked to:
· curb electric and gas rate hikes by mandating rebates to residential customers, making big tech data centers pay for their own power, shifting excessive executive salaries off of ratepayers and onto shareholders, and boosting investment in lower-cost clean energy
· boost state investment in Beltsville schools and public safety
· strengthen protections to block development of BARC and the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge
· protect Marylanders’ access to life-saving vaccines
· make sure the State Attorney General has the staff and funding to sue the Trump Administration whenever it illegally threatens federal agencies, employees, contractors, as well as earned Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits
· protect American citizens and law-abiding immigrants from attacks by masked, armed ICE agents
