UpStage Artists Announces Auditions for Babes In Toyland: The Musical

Auditions for Babes In Toyland The Musical will be held on October 2 and 3

UpStage Artists is pleased to announce auditions for its holiday production of Babes in Toyland, featuring a cast of adults and children ages 8 and older.

Auditions for adult roles will be held Friday, October 2, at 7 p.m., with children’s auditions on Saturday, October 3, at 12 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, MD 20705. The production will feature principal roles as well as both adult and children’s ensembles.

Those auditioning should prepare 16 measures of a song and provide an MP3 accompaniment track to be played during the audition. Auditioners should also come prepared to dance. The audition process will include cold readings from the script.

Auditioners under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign the audition form on their behalf.

Babes in Toyland will be directed by Rick Bergmann, with Stacey Saunders serving as Music Director and Choreographer.

Rehearsals will generally be held Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., along with a few Saturday morning rehearsals.

The production will have seven performances in December. Evening performances will be held December 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on December 5, 6 and 13 at 2 p.m.

With its colorful characters, memorable music and roles for performers of different ages, Babes in Toyland offers an opportunity for adults and young performers alike to be part of a festive theatrical production this holiday season.
