The Citizen's Association will not meet in February. The year 2018 arrived with frigid, bone-chilling temperatures. Unfortunately, we lost a longtime Beltsville resident to the cold. Danny DeHaven, who suffered from dementia, went missing on January 2. When word went out, Beltsville residents of all ages participated in the search along with volunteers from other communities and our first responders. Thank you for the care and compassion you have shown the DeHaven family.
Beltsville is still experiencing home break-ins and thefts from cars. The police will provide a free home safety check if you contact the COPS Unit at 301.937.0910. Here are some winter car safety tips:
Do not leave your car warming up unattended. Car thieves are watching neighborhoods.
Remove all the snow from your car before driving. The snow on your vehicle creates a driving hazard when chunks blow off.
Have you signed up for www.nextdoor.com yet? The police are posting safety tips and crime reports on this social website.
