October is Fire Safety Month. Smoke Alarms Have you Updated to the Newer Smoke Alarms with a 10-year battery? Have you considered a combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm? Does your home have a Fire Extinguisher? Not sure what is best for your home? Stop by the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Fest on Saturday, October 28th Noon - 4 p.m. 4911 Prince Georges Avenue, Beltsville

School has started, so remember that drivers must stop for buses when their lights are flashing. Do not go around school buses when they have stopped. Also, please watch out for children walking to school and trying to cross the road.

CALL 311 county services if your trash and recycling have not been picked up, or there are oversized trucks parked in your neighborhood. Also, if you are not sure if a home being renovated has the proper permits or if a food service provider has the proper permits. You can also call if street signs have been removed or knocked down. When you call be dure to get a case or report number.
